WEDDING DJ Smiths of Smithfield, farringdon
John & Chantal’s Disco-Soaked Farringdon Party
When the brief is “45 minutes of cool disco to start things off, then bring the heat” – we already know it’s going to be a good night. And that’s exactly what unfolded at John & Chantal’s wedding at Smiths of Smithfield, a brilliant modern venue in the heart of Farringdon that somehow manages to combine slick urban design with a warm, welcoming feel – ideal for weddings that want a bit of edge and a lot of fun.
The couple brought serious energy. The dancefloor? Packed from the first track to the very last. And with a German contingent of friends and family in the house, you just know there were going to be some Euro bangers involved. This one was an absolute riot from start to finish.
Venue vibes
Smiths of Smithfield is a venue we love for its versatility – city wedding couples get the benefit of a cool, contemporary space right in the heart of London, without sacrificing atmosphere. High ceilings, industrial finishes, huge windows, great food, and – most importantly – a killer layout for partying. Add the right lighting and you’re halfway to a warehouse rave.
First Dance? Straight soul.
John & Chantal kicked things off in timeless style with Etta James – At Last. It’s always a crowd pleaser, and it gave everyone that breath-catching, just-married moment of magic before things took a hard left turn… straight into The Blues Brothers – Everybody Needs Somebody to Love, and from there, it was game on.
Playlist breakdown
The first part of the evening was heavy on disco – Voulez-Vous, September, Hot Stuff, Hung Up, About Damn Time (Purple Disco Machine Remix) and Stand on the Word (Dimitri from Paris remix) all landed perfectly. Smooth, cool, funky – it gave everyone the perfect warm-up to ease into what became one of the most eclectic and rowdy wedding sets we’ve played all year.
Big highlight? Julian Sommer – Dicht im Flieger, which sent the German crew into complete meltdown. Absolute scenes. One of those "you had to be there" moments. This was followed up by some proper Euro dance bombs – Scooter – Nessaja, Dragostea Din Tei, Sandstorm, and even The Vengaboys – We Like to Party!. No shame. All fire.
And of course, we snuck in a few indie singalongs later in the night (Teenage Dirtbag, All the Small Things, Mr Brightside) before wrapping the whole thing up with a gorgeous final slow dance to Yazoo – Only You.

Final Word
Some weddings are about the speeches. Some about the food. But this one? It was all about the dancefloor. John & Chantal absolutely nailed the brief and trusted us to deliver a set that reflected them and their crowd – which is exactly what we specialise in.
