WEDDING DJ THE ELGIN, MAIDA VALE – LUKE & DANIEL
The Elgin in Maida Vale is one of those rare wedding venues that nails the sweet spot between pub charm and all-out party potential. It’s cosy, unpretentious, and perfectly set up for weddings that are high-energy, music-focused and absolutely overflowing with good vibes. Luke & Daniel took full advantage – shutting down the entire place for their big day and throwing a wedding that felt like a sweaty, joyous, 100-person house party (with infinitely better tunes).
First Dance, Last Dance & All the Chaos In Between
The night kicked off with Natalie Cole’s soul classic This Will Be (An Everlasting Love) – a pitch-perfect first dance for a summer wedding that didn’t take itself too seriously. From there, it was 3+ hours of non-stop dancefloor energy, fuelled by a wildly eclectic setlist that swung from ABBA to Arctic Monkeys to Missy Elliott to My Chemical Romance – and somehow made total sense the whole way through.
Even though this was a DJ-only booking using The Elgin’s in-house system, the energy in the room did all the work. You could feel the party spilling out into the street – in fact, security had their work cut out turning away the waves of locals drawn in by the sound of 80 people singing American Pie at full volume come midnight.
Big Tunes That Worked:
Murder on the Dancefloor – Sophie Ellis-Bextor
Kids – MGMT
Superstylin’ – Groove Armada
Common People – Pulp
This Girl – Kungs
Give Me the Night – George Benson
Milkshake – Kelis
Unexpected Bangers:
Kill Dem – Jamie xx
Filthy / Gorgeous – Scissor Sisters
I’m Not Okay (I Promise) – My Chemical Romance
Gimme More – Britney Spears
Get Ur Freak On – Missy Elliott
Heard It All Before – Sunshine Anderson (curveball that landed hard)
This was one of those weddings where the setlist just kept giving. No overplayed cheese, no momentum dips – just big moments and bigger reactions all night long. When American Pie finally dropped as the last song, the entire pub was belting it out like their lives depended on it.
