WEDDING DJ TOKLAS RESTAURANT, TEMPLE - LONDON

Wedding DJ for Toklas Restaurant – Laurence & Josh’s High-Energy Set in Central London

Toklas Restaurant isn’t your typical wedding venue – and that’s exactly what makes it brilliant. Tucked away just behind the Strand in the heart of London’s Temple district, it’s a small, modern Mediterranean spot with incredible food and a stripped-back, stylish vibe that feels effortlessly cool.

Laurence and Josh’s wedding matched that energy perfectly. They kept things short and sharp – this wasn’t a long drawn-out affair – but they absolutely made the most of every second. When it came to the dancefloor, they cranked things up from the first beat and didn’t let off until the final track faded out.

A Funky, Feel-Good First Dance

The first dance set the tone in the best possible way: “(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher” by Jackie Wilson – all feel-good energy, beaming smiles, and immediate crowd engagement. No slow sway, no awkward shuffling – just straight into the good stuff.

Short Set, Big Energy

We didn’t have hours to play with, but what we had was gold. From disco and camp pop classics to Springsteen, Sugababes and some killer 80s selections, it was wall-to-wall bangers. Laurence and his family are massive fans of The Specials, so we closed the night on “Enjoy Yourself” – a niche pick, but absolutely the right call. A huge skank-along moment that felt totally personal.

Josh, originally from the States, brought some transatlantic flavour too – Billy Joel and Springsteen worked a treat alongside the disco and pop-heavy core. It was a brilliant blend, totally reflective of both grooms.

Big Tunes That Landed:

  • “D.I.S.C.O” – Ottawan

  • “The Promise” – Girls Aloud

  • “Buffalo Stance” – Neneh Cherry

  • “Work (Freemasons Edit)” – Kelly Rowland

  • “A Little Respect” – Erasure

Unexpected Bangers:

  • “Dark Lady” – Cher

  • “Nelson Mandela” – The Specials

  • “Heartbreak (Make Me a Dancer)” – Freemasons ft. Sophie Ellis-Bextor

  • “Do It Do It Again” – Raffaella Carrà

  • “Love & Pride” – King

Lighting & Setup

This wasn’t a huge room, but we gave it the full party feel. We rolled in with the black DJ booth, upgraded moving heads, wireless uplighting, mirror ball and subs – a perfect, punchy lighting rig that made the compact dancefloor feel like a full-on club.

Thanks so much to Josh and Laurence for having along for the ride!
